Apple Health Integration
Overview
New feature alert! We understand that tracking daily health habits manually is a pain, so we have developed an integration to make your lives easier!
From today, iOS users of OSbiome can sync their exercise and sleep metrics by connecting to Apple Health.
- Sleep: OSbiome can automatically sync sleep details from Apple Health to see if you're hitting your recommended sleep timings.
- Exercise: OSbiome can automatically sync exercise details from Apple Health and log multiple datapoints such as heart rate, exercise durations etc. If you're already using another fitness/wellness app (e.g. Strava), it will also be automatically logged in the OSbiome app. Our algorithm will make use the range of datapoints to calculate advanced fitness metrics such as intensity of activities and automatically review if you are hitting your daily requirements.

FAQ
What does OSbiome do with my data?
OSbiome will combine and make use of the data to calculate sleep and activity metrics, to provide users instant insights on whether the minimum daily requirements are achieved.
If you are already an existing customer of our OSbiome gut health test kit, the datapoints will be considered along with your microbiome DNA results to provide even more accurate and personalised recommendations.
Even though I have allowed the connection, OSbiome isn't automatically creating the activities I captured with other apps or devices. Why?
First, make sure that all "Read" permissions for OSbiome have been turned on in Apple Health:
- Go to Sharing > Apps > Turn on OSbiome in the Apple Health app.
- Return to the app and make sure that you have given them permission to "write" data to Apple Health.
- Be aware that certain devices/apps don't automatically write activity data to Apple Health when you finish an activity; instead, they need you to launch their app. For instance, the activities from your Garmin Watch will sync with Apple Health only when you launch the Garmin Connect App on your iPhone.
- Note that, if for any reason, your Apple Health is not fetching the data from your wearable device or connected apps, the OSbiome App will not be able to sync the entries. Please, reinstall your apps and make sure that your device/apps are synced with Apple Health.
Can I edit the imported Apple Health data on my OSbiome app?
Yes, all imported (or otherwise) activities can be edited.
What happens if I manually create an activity and then an Apple Health activity that duplicates the existing activity is imported?
In this instance, your OSbiome App will display both activities. You will be able to delete your manually entry activity, if needed.
Will an activity that I delete from Apple Health also be removed from OSbiome?
We won't erase an activity from OSbiome if it's deleted from Apple Health.
Will my Apple Health history be imported in full?
No. Data will only be recorded in the OSbiome app starting from the time the integration was enabled,.
My sleep and exercise started and ended at different times than they did for the activities reported by the app. How come?
The start/end timings that are present in Apple Health, which are totally dependent on how other apps publish their activity data to Apple Health, are the time boundaries that OSbiome utilizes for imported sleep and exercise. For instance, when writing to Apple Health, Garmin Connect writes "Total time" rather than "Elapsed time" or "Moving time," therefore any activities from Garmin Connect, Apple Health, and OSbiome will utilize "Total time."
Do I need to re-connect Apple Health if I uninstalled and then reinstalled the OSbiome app?
Yes, if an app is uninstalled, iOS disables any Apple Health permissions that were previously granted. You will need to re-connect the Apple Health by navigating to Connect Wearable > Connect > select permissions > Allow.
If you have any issues or trouble connecting the app, kindly reach out via our Facebook / Instagram support messenger and our team will provide support.
